Getting patients started
For your appropriate patients with type 2 diabetes who are on basal insulin, adding mealtime insulin to their basal regimen can help them meet their glycemic goals. Adding mealtime insulin may be right for patients who:
- Are at FPG goal but not at A1C goal (<7%)1
- Are not at PPG goal
These two intensification approaches describe how to add mealtime insulin to your patient's basal insulin therapy:
- The FullSTEP® approach added mealtime bolus injections sequentially to a basal regimen
- The 4-T approach started by adding 3 bolus doses to a basal regimen
